Question

We have a mobile home with a lot of cigarette smoke. What is the best way to remove the nicotine from the walls?

Answer

Some testing is on order to determine what will work best in your situation. Start by trying a solution of warm water and liquid dishwashing detergent. Use a sponge or cloth to clean the walls. Start at the bottom to avoid runs on uncleaned areas and wipe with the grain until the film is gone. Buff dry with a clean cloth to remove all loosened material. If that doesn't work try a commerical degreaser type chemical. Home Depot sells one called "Greased Lightning" that usually works quite well. There are also a number of commerical products on the market made for the fire restoration industry. You should be able to find them at anyone of the following suppliers.
